I don’t understand the Alexa guarding feature….I did say guard my house and she said when I left “I am guarding the house,” but when I got home I forgot to shut it off and I am making noise, and she is not saying anything…..what is she really guarding?
If you are using the free tier of Alexa Guard, when Alexa is “guarding” she listens for glass break sounds and smoke and CO alarm sounds and alerts you if she hears these things.
If you upgrade to Guard Plus, then she listens for activity sounds (such as what you’re describing) and also has some cool deterrence features like dog barking sounds.

Best and still free is to buy and install a Mini $25.00 Blink motion sensor wifi camera and link it to the Alexa app. It will pick up movement and Alexa will acknowledge with notifications and saying out loud “Motion Detected!”. It scared the hell out of my neighbor who came over to my front door to place a package delivery that was left on the concrete floor and put it onto a chair I had in a corner so that it could not be seen. He jumped and ran when he heard Alexa sound off ” Motion Detected” because he was not aware I had a security system setup. LOL. Great camera but it is not wireless so you need to have an outlet nearby for power but Blink has other models that are but I just did not want to spend a lot. I installed it inside on the window jamb facing towards the front door and it works perfectly, even scared a FedEx delivery person
