Why would we need an Echo Show?
Excellent question. I wouldn’t say it’s a “NEED” – but up until recently, I didn’t understand the point of the Echo Show either – if it’s supposed to be about Voice control, why would anyone need a screen?
The best way I can explain the value of an Echo Show is that so many of the things that are possible with our voice will require our memory. For instance, if you want to open a certain Alexa skill, you have to remember the phrase to invoke it – something like ““Alexa ask Sleep Sounds to play Thunderstorm” – however, it’s easy to forget about the skills you have enabled previously because there is no visual indicator, unlike on your phone or tablet where you can see all the app icons.
With the Echo Show, it gives you ideas of phrases you can use to invoke Skills you might want to try, plus it reminds you of Skills you have enabled previously that you might want to use again (plus the correct phrase to do so). The Echo Show provides all that info, plus a visual indicator of your daily calendar, personal photos slideshow, and can be used as a video conferencing tool.
Again, I don’t know that you NEED one, but if you were to try it out, you might find some things you weren’t aware it could do!
Thank you so much, Daniel!
