Good question! Based on what I’ve read, there are a few different solutions to accomplish this.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend a solution for you, but the most popular one seems to be the Philips Hue light system – it seems to require a Hue Bridge, plus an app called “Hue Disco”.  If you don’t have all of those components yet, I would suggest looking more into that system and seeing if it will be a fit for your needs before purchasing anything.
