I have several Echo devices throughout my house, and they all seem to work about the same, except for one near my kitchen. It seems to not hear me well – I often have to yell – and this Echo has has trouble connecting. It’s frustrating because it’s in one of the places I am the most.
Sometimes I even go to put something on the shopping list or ask the weather and my Echo in the office which is much further away answers instead.
I’m wondering if there’s something in that location blocking the signal or something like that….any ideas?

Hi Jeannene,
This is a tough one, but here are some ideas that I might try.
First, is there anything near the Echo that would prevent the internal microphones from picking up your voice? Often things sitting very close to the device can prevent audio from getting through.
Second, you could always reset the device and see if that helps things. The process to do that is here.
Third, if this Echo device is in the location you would use Alexa the most, perhaps you swap it out with one of your other devices around your home.

I had a similar issue. I discovered it was on the edge of my wifi signal.Our wifi thermostat needed a range extender, and that dot went on that network and all was good.

I had a very similar problem. One of my Dot’s would not respond and it kept showing it was not connected when zi opened my app. I disconnected everything and just reconnected. Works great now! By the way the comment about something block your voice is so true. I had a small container next to my Alexa and I practically had to scream to get Alexa to respond. Moved the container and all is fine
