Why is it that Alexa does not realize that “room out” is the same as “room off”?
My bathroom has only Alexa controlled lights, and I want to turn them OFF.

Alexa has been set by Amazon to recognize certain commands, and “out” sounds like it isn’t one of them!
You can sent a Routine to accomplish what you want – just make a new routine that functions when you say “Alexa, turn the bathroom lights out” with the appropriate action. For step-by-step instructions for making Routines, you can check out our guide to Routines.
With respect to having “room out” as a recognized command for your lights without building a routine, I would suggest reaching out to Amazon Support directly for assistance to see what additional help they can provide. Hopefully they can put that on their to-do list!
