I am asked a phone number and I have a voice match. All seems to be OK.
Even later when I go home I am told by Alexa that I need to stop the Guest Connect connection (so I know that I am connected.) But, when I request to play for example from one of my playlist, Alexa responds something like this, “James Pandora I cannot find that here is something else.” My name is not James, my friend’s name is not James. I do not have a Pandora Account. He does not have a Pandora Account. After numerous attempts, I just give up, nothing ever plays as I ask for it.
I call Amazon Alexa Support, the do not have a clue. (my problem does not appear on their computer monitor and then they give up as they appear to be limited to pre-set questions and cannot think outside the box, IMHO).
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your question! I don’t have any information beyond what Amazon Support provided you, unfortunately. I am sure that you have read through this before, but just in case you haven’t, Amazon instructions for Guest Connect are here.
One idea – are you based in the United States or elsewhere? From what I was able to find, Guest Connect is supported for Amazon.com accounts only.
One other idea might be to ask for Amazon Support to escalate your request. Hopefully you can get some more helpful support from them that way!

Thank you. Yes I am in the US and Amazon.com and Amazon Music Unlimited.
I have called support perhaps four times if not more. In part it is problematic because I am not at my home and they want me to go unplug and re-plug and and log off and login (both my Guest Connect and have my friend log off and login). You know I am not there to dismantle his home and reassemble it. But, the Support folks cannot seem to understand the imposition this implies.
My issue was bumped up to a supervisor once but the problem was not solved. There too that person wanted me to disconnect, log off and log in both my and his accounts. Crazy I had just done all of that. Ultimately, the hassle of the “Support” was not worth the quality time with a friend. Not to say that they did not want to make it work but….
And this is not just a one time thing nor is it just at one location. I have never successfully connected outside of my home.
Ultimately I have chosen to back off of and have lost enthusiasm for Echo, Alexa and Amazon. Seems to not work or not be as fun as I thought it would be. None-the-less my nature is “Puzzle Solver” and there is enough curiosity and drive in me that I just cannot completely stop wondering what happened in those attempts to use Guest Connect.
Again, thanks for your thoughts. I am not leaning toward escalation as they will want me to be where I can recreate the problem. It feels odd to consider walking into a friend’s home strictly to deal with Amazon and my Guest Connect issue.
With kind personal regards, I am,
Very truly yours,
