We have many lights controlled by Alexa-enabled plugs. However, it seems some of them only work when on my profile/account, and some only work when Alexa is on my husband’s profile.
How can we get them to work with both profiles?
Thank you!
I can tell you from personal experience that I have struggled with this as well.
Amazon gives you the ability to share some things across a household (like a shopping list), but plugs and lights must be programmed separately for each account.
I eventually hit on a process that works for me – when I add a new device to be controlled by Alexa, I set it up on my phone using the Alexa app, make sure it’s working properly, then immediately repeat the same steps on my wife’s phone to ensure the device will work with her account also.
If the device was previously set up, I take both of our phones and compare to figure out which plugs or lights are missing from each other’s accounts – then I go through the setup of that plug or light on whoever’s account is missing it.
It’s definitely a few steps, but hopefully Amazon makes this easier in the future!
Hope that helps!

Thanks Daniel! I’ve been so surprised that this isn’t something that the Amazon team has addressed yet. Hopefully they will soon!
