Alexa Guard Can Make Your Home Safer
If Alexa hears suspicious activity, she’ll alert you
Alexa Guard listens for signs of trouble while you’re away from home — like glass breaking in a windowpane or your smoke detector alarm going off. If Alexa picks up any suspicious activity, she’ll send your phone a push notification alert with a 10-second audio clip of the event. I tested Guard with breaking glass and smoke alarm sounds, and I was super impressed by how well it works.
Feature Upgrade: Last week Amazon announced that soon Alexa Guard will also be able to listen for signs of human activity when you’re out of the house (and no one else is supposed to be there) — like footsteps, talking, a faucet turning on, coughing or a door closing.
Try Alexa Guard today — it’s free and easy!
Here’s what you need to do:
Activate Guard in the Alexa app by following a few simple steps (takes 30 seconds or less). The next time you leave home, say “Alexa, I’m leaving” to turn on “Away Mode” (this will prompt Alexa to turn on Guard and listen for trouble)When you arrive home, say “Alexa, I’m home” to turn off “Away Mode”
Pro Tip: You can also easily turn on “Away Mode” in the Alexa app if you forget to do it on your way out of the house.
