An Alexa-Enabled Thermostat Will Seriously Upgrade Your Smart Home Experience
Just ask Alexa to change the temp
All you have to say is “Alexa, set the temperature to 70 degrees.” Or, if you have multiple thermostats, you can control the temperatures by room: “Alexa, set living room to 68 degrees.” My personal favorite use for an Alexa-connected thermostat is automatically changing the temperature when you go to sleep, wake up or arrive home using an Alexa routine. With an Alexa routine set up for your smart thermostat, Alexa can warm up the room when it’s time for you to wake up (and get out from under those cozy warm sheets!) — sounds pretty nice, right?!
Pro Tip: I recommend the Nest Thermostat because it’s so easy to set up with Alexa. (Yep, even though Nest is owned by Google, it still works great with Alexa!)
3 more ways Alexa can make your smart home even better:
- I love controlling my smart lights with Alexa voice commands and routines. Plus, with the new Philips Hue Bluetooth bulbs, it’s easier than ever to set them up and add a little pizazz to any room
- Do you love hitting snooze as much as I do? With the Amazon smart plug, Alexa can automatically brew your morning coffee with an Alexa routine so you can catch a few more zzz’s (until your coffee is ready!)
- I come home to clean floors every day now that I have Alexa connected to Roomba. With Roomba, you can clean your home in a flash by saying “Alexa, tell Roomba to start cleaning”
