Get A Reminder When You Get Somewhere
Alexa location-based reminders are surprisingly useful (and cool!)
Ever wanted to set a reminder for yourself to do something when you get home… or leave the office? With Alexa, you now can! “Alexa, remind me to defrost the burger meat when I get home” or “Alexa, remind me to stop by the ATM when I leave work” are a couple of reminders that have been super helpful to me. What I love about this feature is that I no longer have to estimate what time I’ll leave work or arrive home and set a reminder for then — I can just set the reminder based on location!

Adjust phone settings. Make sure that your phone settings allow the Alexa app to access your location (otherwise Alexa will not know when you arrive at or leave a location!)
Set a few locations. Add a few locations you commonly refer to (e.g., “work”) via the Alexa app.
- Open the Alexa app
- Tap the hamburger icon in the upper left corner
- Tap “Settings”
- Tap “Your Locations”
- Tap “Add Location”
- Input the address location
- Input a name to refer to the location in “Name” field (e.g., “work”)
- Tap “Save” button.
Now you can say “Alexa, set reminder to text Aunt Susie when I arrive at work” and Alexa will know exactly where “work” is!
