Alexa Timers are a Game-Changer this Thanksgiving
Easily set multiple timers (and name them!) with Alexa
Just say “Alexa, set a turkey timer for 3 hours” and “Alexa, set an apple pie timer for an hour.” Keep going and add a timer for each of your dishes, you can set as many named timers as you want! So tomorrow morning — when you’ve got turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole that need to go in the oven but each dish comes out at a different time — you’ll know exactly how to keep track of it all. Alexa will track all your timers and alert you when each one is done by beeping and saying “Your turkey timer is done!” (insert name of your dish). To turn off the timer, say “Alexa, stop.”
Pro Tip: Trust me: setting Alexa timers hands-free is so much easier than futzing around with your phone to set multiple timers — or using those old-fashioned wind-up timers we all have lying around. If there’s one way to use Alexa this Thanksgiving, it’s setting Alexa timers!
4 more helpful Alexa timer tips:
- You can extend timers before they end: Say “Alexa, extend stuffing timer by 5 minutes.” You can also extend the timer when it goes off — just say “Alexa, extend timer 2 minutes”
- Find out how much time is left on your timers: If you have an Echo Show, say “Alexa, show my timers” to see them displayed. No Echo Show? Just say “Alexa, what are my timers?” and Alexa will give you an update on how much time is left on each one
- You can also see and change timers in the Alexa app: Open the Alexa app > tap the hamburger icon on the upper left corner > Tap “Reminders & Alarms” > Tap “Timers”
- Don’t want your timers to beep repeatedly? You can set a reminder instead of a timer by saying “Alexa, set a reminder in 30 minutes for the casserole.” 30 minutes later, Alexa will announce twice that the time is up for the casserole but not beep repeatedly like a timer
