Try these troubleshooting tactics
Every once in a while, something goes wrong with my smart home setup. It happened while I was on vacation a few weeks ago—my smart home devices disconnected from my Google Assistant.
The lights still ran according to the routine—but when I tried to use commands, Assistant gave me some error messages.
First, I tried turning them on and off, but that didn’t solve the problem. Then, I resorted to unpairing and repairing the bulbs. To do that:
- Open the Google Home app and select your devices.
- Tap on the group or individual item you need to fix.
- Tap on the gear on the top right and select unlink
- Tap “Unlink”
- Then go ahead and relink your light bulb
That’s what finally did the trick for my bulbs!
