You’ll need to set aside some time to reset your smart home
I just upgraded my wifi router. Which was great news—except that it meant resetting all of my Google Assistant-connected smart home devices to the new wifi password!
Some tips to help you when you have a new setup:
- It’s easiest if you set aside some time to do it all at once. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself getting grumpy when you need to use the printer or use a light in a room you aren’t always in. (It took me about an hour and a half.)
- Look for easy shortcuts. Google makes it a lot easier than other tech for you to get all of your Nest speakers and smart displays online. Once you go through the initial process with one Nest, you can easily get all the others online.
- It might be a good time to make any changes you’ve been wanting to make. I updated a few routines while I was doing it, so running the lights in my living room is even easier.
