“Hey Google, can you recommend a good Indian restaurant near my home?”
I’ve ordered takeout from the same Italian restaurant for the last 4 Saturday night dinners (yeeeesh!). It’s a great restaurant, but definitely time for a change!
(Observant VoiceBrew readers may have noticed a recurring theme… yes, I have the unfortunate habit of of finding a meal, restaurant, even song that I like, pressing repeat way too many times and then inevitably spoiling it for myself. My husband even calls this “Katherine-ing.”)
And thankfully, Google Assistant has a zillion other ideas for me.
I can ask “Hey Google…
- … can you recommend a good restaurant near home?”
- … is there a good Italian restaurant near my home?”
- … can you recommend a good Chinese restaurant near my home?”
Ask any variation of these questions, and Google Assistant will run you through a bunch of options, giving you a quick snapshot of each one’s overall reviews and what people are saying. It’s really helpful!
Pro Tip #1
Make sure Google knows where your home is — otherwise this is much less useful! Open the Assistant app > tap the circle in the upper right corner with your image or initial > tap the light blue “You” button > tap “Your places” and then update your Home address.
Pro Tip #2
You can ask Google Assistant for restaurant recs via the Assistant app or on your Nest smart speaker or display.
