Google Assistant will soon learn which one you want!
Every once in a while, the wrong Nest answers.
Google Assistant has started asking “Which device did you expect to respond?” on occasion, so you can clarify which device your command was directed to, and Assistant can learn for the future.
Another way to get the right Nest to answer is to update the sensitivity to the wake word “Hey Google” for your devices.
For example, if you have a Nest in your kitchen and then another nearby-ish in the living room, you could make the kitchen Nest more sensitive (since it’s often loud in the kitchen) and the living room one less sensitive (since the living room is a quieter place).
That way when you’re shouting to set a timer for the pasta while you’re cooking dinner, the timer will get set in the kitchen and not the living room.
To update “Hey Google” sensitivity:
- In the Google Assistant app, tap on your image or initial in the top right corner
- Tap “Devices”
- Tap the device you want to tweak
- Tap “Hey Google sensitivity”
- Choose how sensitive you’d like it to be (it defaults at a happy medium)
