Here’s how to set parental controls in your Google Home app
If you don’t want your kids playing inappropriate videos or songs on your Nest Hub, you can set up parental controls to limit them—or even keep them from playing music or videos altogether.
And it’s so easy to do!
- Open the Google Home App
- Tap “Settings”
- Tap “Digital Wellbeing”
- Choose your display
- Tap “Add Device Filter” and choose the audience who will have filters—you can choose everyone, or only certain accounts, or guests—and what devices the filters will apply to
- Choose your video settings—you can allow only kid-approved videos, allow any videos, or block all videos
- Choose music settings—you can allow any music, only non-explicit music, or block all music
Pro Tip #1: If you want to create filters that just apply when your kids are talking to Google Assistant, make sure your kids are set up with Voice Match so Assistant knows it’s them talking!
Pro Tip #2: You can also block calls, restrict answers, or only allow family-friendly actions on your Nest Hub.
Pro Tip #3: You can also use these filters keep kids from watching explicit YouTube videos on smart TVs by selecting that device at step #4.
