If it makes you feel better, you’re not the only one who requested an invitation months ago and still hasn’t received one.
Haven’t gotten your Echo Auto yet?
I did some digging, and here is what I learned…
It’s pretty random who has gotten an invitation to buy an Echo Audo
The good news is that the Echo Auto is starting to ship — but it’s not clear how Amazon selects who gets them first.
Some people with many Echo Dots who requested an invitation a year ago haven’t gotten their Echo Auto yet, while others who requested just months ago already have it up and running.
One person who received an Echo Auto reported that Amazon said he was given an invitation because he has many Echos and has a registered vehicle with Amazon Garage — but others in a similar situation haven’t gotten an invitation to buy one yet.
Broad roll-out is (hopefully) coming this summer
Amazon Customer Service is telling people who call asking about Echo Auto that broad roll-out will be end of summer.
So at least at a minimum, you should get yours by then!
First model has some bugs that are being worked out
Sounds like the first Echo Auto model has some bugs. The good news is that early users (the people who have gotten their Echo Autos!) are reporting those bugs, so they’re being worked out by Amazon pretty quickly. (And thankfully for those who have received the first generation Echo Auto, since the software gets automatically updated, you don’t need a next generation device to remove bugs.)
People more recently are reporting it works 100% like a regular Echo device.
The slow roll-out might be intended to bug-fix before too many people get theirs — that way, it’s a better product by the time the million or so people who requested one all actually start using it.
