This Alexa skill will tell you!
Poor air quality has been linked with everything from seasonal allergies to serious diseases like lung cancer and stroke. So it’s good for everyone to pay attention to air conditions, even if you don’t live in an area known for smog or allergens.
Alexa has been tracking air quality for years. Just say, “Alexa, what’s the air quality today” and she’ll give you the air quality ranking per the Air Quality Index.
But a new Skill from Molekule gives you even more information. Molekule makes award-winning air purifiers—including the Air Mini, which was named one of Time’s 25 Best Air Inventions—so you know they know what they’re talking about.
- Enable the skill by saying, “Alexa, launch Air Quality Index” to enable the Molekule skill.
- Depending on your settings, you may need to go into app’s settings and approve the address for your area. To do this, tap More, then Skills, then Your Skills, where you can confirm the device address.
- Ask, “Alexa, what is the air quality for today” and she’ll give you the conditions, using data from AirNow, which reports via the standards of the official U.S. Air Quality Index. She’ll give you current conditions, along with a graph showing the air quality over the past month.
- Have an upcoming event outdoors? Ask, “Alexa, what is the air quality for Sunday?” and she’ll give you predictions within a limit of 10 days, just like a weather report.
