It’s never been this easy to share your favorite routines
If you’ve ever tried to walk a not-so-tech-savvy friend or loved one through building an Alexa routine, you probably know that it doesn’t work so well — especially when you’re trying to do it over the phone! 😉
That’s why I love this new update that lets you share a routine. You can build it in your own Alexa app and send it to your loved one via a simple link.
Then, all you have to do is help them make a few tweaks so it’ll work for them just like it works for you. It’s a huge time (and patience) saver!
The easy steps to share your routine:
First, share your routine with a simple link! Just follow these steps:
- Navigate to your routine
- Tap the 3 dots on the top right corner of the screen
- Tap “Share Your Routine”
- Tap “Continue” to bring up your phone’s sharing menu, then choose how you want to send the link (via text, email, Facebook Messenger, or others)
Pro Tip #1
Make sure your recipient clicks the link from their smartphone—otherwise it won’t work!
Once you’ve sent the routine link… Depending on the routine you share, different adjustments will need to be made by the recipient before the routine can be saved. The two most common adjustments are:
- Tap the orange “Select Light” text so they can follow the prompts to set up their own smart lights
- Tap “Choose Device” so they select the device they want music or announcements to play from
Once the necessary changes have been made, the recipient can tap “Save” in the upper right corner, and voila! their setup is, well, set up!
Pro Tip #2
The “Save” text in the upper right corner will be grayed out until all necessary adjustments (such as the above) have been made.
