You need to try it, and here’s how…
If you haven’t seen the hilarious game Jimmy Fallon plays with Alexa, then you should definitely watch it in the video above.
The point of the game is to try to get Alexa to say a particular word (obviously not something super easy like “hello” – that’s no fun!).
We had to try it for ourselves… and it’s just as funny (and fun!) as it is when Jimmy plays!
Here’s how you play…
- I recommend playing with a few friends or family members (you can even do it virtually like Jimmy!)
- One person picks a word and lets the other players know what it is
- Then everyone gets a turn to try to get Alexa to say the word by asking her something!
- You can’t use routines or a command like “Alexa, say ____” and you can’t use the word in your question to her
I first tried it playing with my husband with the word “pineapple” — it took more guesses than you might think to get her to say it. (I scored the win by asking “Alexa, what fruit is the symbol for hospitality?”)
As you’ll soon find out, it can be surprisingly challenging—which is, of course, what makes it fun 🙂
Some other words to try:
- Chimpanzee
- Therapy
- Canal
- Mystery
- Horseshoe

It’s also kind of fun to play by yourself 🙂
