Just say “Alexa, open Heads Up!”

I’m a big fan of all things Ellen, and I love playing Heads Up!, the guessing game that Ellen made famous playing with celebrity guests on her show.

If you’ve never heard of it, watch this 2-min video of Ellen’s favorite Heads Up! moments (skip to 1:41 to see Jennifer Aniston play while dressed as a sumo wrestler!).

Since it isn’t always easy to find people to play with (especially these days), I was pretty excited to discover that I can play with Alexa so I always have a gaming partner! I’ve officially found my favorite new passing-the-time-washing-dishes game 🙂

How do you play?

You have 90 seconds to guess as many cards as you can, and Alexa provides the clues.

You choose your card deck theme from options like “Superstars,” “On The Road” and “Favorite Fictional Characters.”

Just say, “Alexa, open Heads Up!” to start up a game

She’ll give you a brief rundown of the rules and prompt you to choose a deck theme, then the game commences! Alexa makes a pleasant ding if you get it right, a buzzer sound if you don’t.

Even if you’re not an Ellen fan, I highly recommend trying this super fun game!

4 pro tips to have even more fun with Heads Up!

Pro Tip #1

Remember the key commands “Clue,” which prompts Alexa to give you an additional clue if you don’t know the answer and “Skip,” which you can use to skip to the next card if you get stumped. 

Pro Tip #2

After the 90 seconds are up, Alexa tallies up how many you get right (my best was nine!) and gives you the answers to the ones you didn’t guess correctly. (I guess my boy band knowledge is a little lacking.)

Pro Tip #3

If you really love the game, you can move beyond the first five decks and order additional decks, including the Summer, Pop Culture, or the Adults Only Collection. Additional decks are $2.10 for Prime Subscribers and $2.99 for everyone else.
