You don’t have to stick with Alexa—now you can have Ziggy as your Echo’s voice!
Alexa is known worldwide for her distinctive voice and her slightly offbeat sense of humor. But in an effort to provide a relatable voice to all Echo and Dot users, you now how the option to interact with a masculine-sounding voice.
Meet Alexa’s male-sounding counterpart, Ziggy!
There are different ways to activate the new voice. Just say, “Alexa, change your voice” and Echo will respond in the new, deeper voice.
To change it back, just say the command again.
If you prefer to use the app, here’s how:
- Open the Alexa app and tap Devices on the bottom menu bar.
- Select the device that you want to adjust, and then tap the Settings button, in the upper right.
- Scroll down to Alexa’s Voice and tap. You’ll have the option to activate the New Voice, or keep the Original Voice.
You also have the option to change the Wake Word to match the new voice. Just follow these simple steps on the app.
- Open the Alexa app and tap Devices on the bottom menu bar.
- Select the device that you want to adjust, and then tap the Settings button, in the upper right.
- Scroll down to Wake Word (located just above Alexa’s Voice) and tap. You can choose from 5 different wake words: Alexa, Ziggy (the new male-sounding voice), or the gender-neutral words Amazon, Computer or Echo.
Or if you prefer, just “Alexa, change the Wake Word” and she’ll give you the option to choose from Alexa, Amazon, Computer, Echo or Ziggy.
