Ask Alexa for the UV index before you leave the house
The Skin Cancer Foundation says that 1 in 5 Americans will develop some form of skin cancer by the age of 70. So exposure to excessive UV rays is something to take seriously.
The National Weather Service calculates a daily UV Index forecast, on a scale from 1 to 11+, which the EPA uses to give guidance on sun protection and suggested time limits for outdoor exposure outside when UV rays are at their most powerful.
To find conditions where you live, just say “Alexa, what is the UV index today?”
She’ll respond with the UV index at the present time, and give the forecast for later in the day, so you can choose the best time to go outside. I use this feature all the time so I can avoid being outdoors during the worst UV — or definitely wear sunscreen if I want to be outside!
Like to plan further ahead? Ask, “Alexa, what is the UV index for tomorrow?”and she’ll give you the predicted UV number.
