Just let Alexa discover them

If you received new smart home goodies for the holidays, you’ll likely find it easier than ever to get them up and running.

Alexa now automatically discovers new smart home devices connected to your wifi.

You might see them listed as new devices either on the homepage of the app, or when you tap on Devices there might be a “devices discovered” message at the very top that you can tap.

(I discovered today that Alexa found my printer on her own!)

Then all you have to do is tap on the device and name it something simple so you can control it with Alexa!

Pro Tip

For some smart home devices (like the TP-Link smart plugs I used to test the feature), you’ll need to set it up first within the manufacturer’s app before Alexa can discover it.
