Use natural language to get Alexa to do the things you want
Sometimes I feel a little bossy when I command Alexa to do simple things, like turning on and off the lights.
You can now teach her to recognize cues in casual conversation. Here are two simple examples to try out tonight:
- Say “Alexa, it’s getting dark in here.” She might respond, “Should I turn on or brighten the light?” or ask “How can I help?” Reply with your preference and she’ll set that up as a command and remember it the next time you use the phrase.
- Say “Alexa, it’s too bright in here.” She’ll ask if she should turn off or turn down the light or how she can help.
Pro Tip
If you change your mind after setting the command, you can ask her to forget to last command and then redo it.
