Alexa can figure out what you might have forgotten
I’m that person who, just before falling asleep, thinks, “Did I turn out the lights downstairs?” (And then inevitably gets up to check!)
But thanks to Alexa’s Hunches feature, I don’t have to get out of bed to check. Alexa can notice if the room is empty and turn them off herself.
By enabling Hunches, Alexa can use the motion sensor in the camera to sense if a room is empty, and act accordingly. Here’s how it works.
- Open the Alexa app and select More on the bottom right.
- Go to Settings and scroll all the way down until you get to Hunches.
- There you’ll see the options that you can set up, depending on what smart home devices you have connected.
Enable “turn off lights when you’re asleep” and she’ll sense lack of motion of her cue to turn them off.
You can also set the lights to turn off when you’re away from home. In this case, she’ll use the GPS on your phone as the cue, so you’ll need to allow Location Access and set “Always” as your permission for access.
Check out the feature and see what your devices can do. I have a hunch you’ll like it 🙂
