If you wake up before your Echo alarm, here’s how to quietly silence it
There’s an easy way to cancel it without waking your partner!
Last week, I set an early morning Alexa alarm, but woke up almost an hour before the alarm went off.
I really didn’t want my husband to wake up unnecessarily early to an alarm that I no longer needed. (A grumpy mate is never fun!) I also didn’t want to wake him by asking Alexa to cancel the alarm.
I thought about whispering to Alexa, but figured it would have been a little creepy to tiptoe over to his side of the bed to whisper “Alexa, cancel the alarm.” Plus, the combo of me whispering and Alexa whispering back probably would have awakened him anyway.
Fortunately, you can easily (and silently!) cancel your alarms with few taps in the Alexa app!
How to (silently) cancel your Alexa alarm before it goes off
- Open the Alexa app
- Tap “More” on the bottom navigation bar (or if you have the old version of the App, tap the hamburger icon on the top left)
- Tap “Reminders & Alarms”
- Tap “Alarms” tab
- Toggle off the alarm
Pro Tip
You can also use the Alexa app to quietly turn off the lights at night if your partner has already fallen asleep.
