Create a radio station that’s perfect for you

Oftentimes I don’t know exactly what I want to hear, but I know who I want to hear. 

So I’ll say, “Alexa, play James Taylor” and get a slew of songs by the singer-songwriter. But, truth be told, that can also get a little repetitive when you do it day after day. (How many times can you hear “You’ve Got a Friend?”)

When you want to mix it up but still keep an artist’s general vibe, just add the word “radio”. 

So instead of saying, “Alexa, play James Taylor,” say “Alexa, play James Taylor radio.”  

Then you’ll get that artist, but also related musicians with a similar mood. In the case of James Taylor, that means Carole King, the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Carly Simon.

Pro Tip: This is also a great way to discover contemporary artists. If you like a song by Ed Sheeran, say “Alexa, play Ed Sheeran radio” and you’ll be introduced to contemporaries like Olivia Rodrigo and Lewis Capaldi. It’s also a great way to touch base with what your kids and grandkids are listening to.
