Just say “Alexa, play Frank Sinatra (or your favorite artist) radio”
Alexa’s radio feature will give you a whole playlist featuring your favorite artist and music similar to it.
So when you’re in the mood for The Chairman, instead of saying “Alexa, play ‘Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra'” say “Alexa, play Frank Sinatra radio.”
(Yes, I am a sucker for Frank Sinatra — my father-in-law and I have even been known to duet from time to time, although his voice is MUCH better than mine!)
She’ll of course play the Frank Sinatra classics you love, but you’ll also hear music from other related artists, like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and duets by Tony Bennett and even Lady Gaga (I was a little surprised about that one, but I’ll take it!).
Pro Tip #1
This feature also works with genres. Say “Alexa, play Yacht Rock radio” and she’ll take you to the Yacht Rock channel on Amazon Music.
Pro Tip #2
You can also link an existing subscription to a preferred streaming service like Pandora or Spotify. Just say, “Alexa, play (insert artist/genre/song) radio on Pandora.” She’ll send you a link to the Alexa app, where you can log in with your email and password and connect the accounts. If you have custom stations or playlists set up there, she can access those too. You can also link your account via Music Settings in the Alexa app.
Pro Tip #3
If you have an Echo Show, it will display the song name, band and album cover art when a new song starts. It’s a great way to discover new music!
