Try “Alexa, change your voice”
You’ll hear her latest option: a male voice.
I was startled by how deep it is, and because he’s newer (I presume), he seems to speak a bit less robotically than Alexa.
You can also change your Wake Word (the word that Amazon speakers listen for and respond to) to reflect the masculine sound, if you’d like.
To change the wake word, you can say “Alexa, change the wake word” and follow the prompts. Or follow the steps on the app.
- Tap More in the bottom right, then tap Settings.
- Tap Device settings and select the device you want to change.
- Tap the cog in the upper right to access the device settings. Then scroll down to Wake Word and select from the options: Alexa, Amazon, Computer, Echo or Ziggy.
Pro Tip #1: Don’t go to the trouble of changing the Wake Word if you’re not going to keep the voice. I missed Alexa’s original voice and changed her back in an instant by saying “Alexa, change your voice again.”
Pro Tip #2: If some people in your household like the old voice and some like the new voice, you can change the Wake Word on certain devices only.
