US-based users with an Alexa-enabled device can now say “Alexa, grow a tree” to donate $1 to plant one tree through One Tree Planted.
Every year, Earth Day seems to sneak up on us. The annual event, which started on April 22, 1970, is meant to be an opportunity to give thanks to our surroundings: the mountains, oceans, deserts, valleys, and icecaps.
We truly do live on such a wonderful planet, it’s important that we do our best to give back. The official theme for 2022 is “Invest In Our Planet” and thankfully, Amazon is making that goal easier than ever.
That’s right, Amazon is teaming up with One Tree Planted, an environmental charity that supports reforestation around the world in honor of Earth Month.
US-based users with an Alexa-enabled device can now say “Alexa, grow a tree” to donate $1 to plant one tree through One Tree Planted.
Trees are absolutely essential for life on earth as you may remember from your 3rd-grade biology class. Trees suck up carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis. They then store carbon in their trunks.
Here’s the thing: roughly 15 billion trees are cut down each year according to Nature.com. Right now there are about 40 million Alexa users in the US alone.
While that number pales in comparison to the number of trees we’re losing on an annual basis, it would be amazing if every one of those Alexa users utter the simple phrase “Alexa, grow a tree”.
So, if you have your Alexa nearby, ask it this favor for Earth Month. Feel free to share this blog with friends and family as well and maybe we can somehow get the message to all 40 million Alexa users in the US.
