Try rock, paper, scissors with Alexa

Decisions, decisions—we’re faced with hundreds of them each day. And we don’t always agree with the people around us. 

When I was a kid, one of my favorite ways to decide things was a quick game of Rock Paper Scissors. And you know what—it still works! 

Alexa can be great when you’re at an impasse. You want Thai takeout and he wants pizza? Rock paper scissors it. Netflix or HBO Max?  Same thing!

First, decide which result goes with Alexa winning (pizza), and which goes with you winning (Thai food). 

Then say, “Alexa, play Rock Paper Scissors.”

For each round, she’ll say “Rock, Paper, Scissors, shoot.” When she says “shoot,”, you say your answer, and she’ll share hers. Paper beats rock, scissors beats rock, and rock beats paper. Easy peasy lemon squeasy.  

Pro tip: Just like in real life, sometimes you’ll get a draw. Play again, or just go for a wild card, like barbecue.
