Now you can have more than one trigger phrase
Alexa routines make it easy to trigger a series of actions by using common phrases (or other routine triggers like a scheduled time). But that only works in a household if everyone remembers the phrase needed!
So I love this upgrade that gives different phrases to kick off a routine.
If you have “Alexa, good night” as the trigger to shut off your lights, you can now add additional phrases, like “Alexa, bedtime” or “Alexa, sweet dreams” to kick off the same routine.
Each routine can have up to 7 custom phrases as triggers.
Here’s how to do it.
- Go to Alexa app and tap More on bottom right.
- Tap Routines and select the routine you want to add to
- Tap View/edit and then Add another phrase.
- Type what you’d like—you can add up to 7 phrases per Routine action.
Pro Tip: Are you a multilingual household or want to be? Program in a few international phrases, such as “Alexa, bonne nuit” or “Alexa, buenas noches” and get practice!
