Set your Google-connected smart lights for sunrise or sunset
Smart light routines need constant tweaking as the days get longer. (My lights have been going on in the evening when the light’s still very bright outside!)
Fortunately, you can tie the time your lights go on to sunrise and sunset instead with a simple Google Assistant routine.
To set this up:
- Open the Google Home App and tap “Routines”
- Tap the plus sign to create a new routine
- Tap “Add Starter”
- Choose “Sunrise/Sunset,” then either Sunrise or Sunset
- Select the location to use
- Select exactly when you want the routine to start, based on sunrise or sunset (I have my lights come on 45 minutes before sunset)
- Decide which days you want to run the routine
- Add the actions (such as smart lights going on/off or music playing)
- Hit save
