Would this work?
- Add a contact to your phone with the name “help”
- Add a phone number as “911-248-3276”
I am “guessing” that “Alexa call help” will get 911… What say you?
Good thinking, this wouldn’t work. Digital calling (like Smartphones or through Alexa) doesn’t function the way older phones did. For instance, if you used an older phone to make a call, it would call by sending the digits one at a time – once the call was connected, any extra digits could still be sent but would not have any effect on the call.
Smartphones make calls by sending all the numbers at once.
Alternatively, there are other skills that can allow you to reach out to designated individuals in case of an emergency – but not emergency services. Skills such as Ask My Buddy or My SOS Family may provide you a means to reach a designated family member or friend, but would not be a replacement for calling 911 directly.
