Great question!
There’s no way to do it natively within the Amazon Alexa Routines, but with a 3rd party skill, we can get a bit closer!
Look for the skill named “Sunrise Sunset“, and enable it.
Then, in your “Good Morning” routine, add the “Sunrise Sunset” skill. Unfortunately, you’ll have to provide the location and date you wish to know the sunrise and sunset for, and you won’t hear the amount of day length, but this will at least provide you the sunrise and sunset times to get you started.
Let’s hope Amazon adds some more functionality to do this natively in the future!

I added Sun Riser to my skills but when I edit my “Good Morning” routine the skill does not add to the routine. I wrote to the maker of the skill, I received a response from Amazon – crazy nuts, as they advised me to delete the routine, rebuild it and add the command, “Alexa, Turn off the light.” Gee Wiz why had I NOT THOUGHT OF THAT? I did not follow that path.
I then tried the other command prompt as an addition to the routine. It tested out to give the right answer but alexa did not add it to the routine.
Any suggestions? Is there a basic trick to adding to a routine? Something I am missing?
Daniel, I guess I am not familiar enough with Alexa. I went to the skills and searched for that skill. I launched it. But it asked permission listing only two old dots in the basement. I had no other choice. I clicked on “Done” I heard the unit(s) in the basement asking something but I could not get to them in time. (I do have numerous units throughout the home all on the same WIFI.)
If I allow the skill and answer the questions on the basement pair. Will I then be able to invoke the skill in my routine? This is almost too much, I reckon I could just look out the window and get the information.
Dazed and Confused but still alive and diggin’!

Hi,
I think you need to edit your routine a bit.
When you edit a routine, at the bottom it should say “From” – and when you tap on that, a menu will pop up saying “Alexa will respond from” – make sure to select “The device you speak to.”
With regard to the skill, it did work for me. Make sure the skill is the last item on your routine, not the first. Amazon may have been suggesting to add “turn on the light” earlier in the routine to make sure the “Sunrise Sunset” skill would run last.
Hope that helps.

Again thank you for taking the time to help me.
I did figure out the “From – The Device you speak to.” Dilemma prior to your response.
Adding the Skill. That is just not working still. To review: I go to the routine, “Good Morning”. I tap “+” Add Action. The comes Add New, I pick “Skills”, “Your Skills”, then “Sun Riser”. Then comes a screen that says Alexa will open Sun Riser. At the top is says ‘Confirm’ to the right at the top it says, ‘Next’. The only two functions that work are either back arrow or ‘Next’. I tap ‘Next’. Then I am transported back to “Edit Routine” with the list of all the routines that I have (not all that many.) Nothing is added to “Good Morning”. Nowhere am I asked where to place the new add nor does anything get added anywhere.
Can you see what I am doing wrong or what direction I need to go.
