You can talk to Alexa without waking up any sleeping housemates

Don’t you hate it when you ask Alexa something, and she booms back in the volume level 8 you forgot she was set at?

Whisper Mode means you won’t have to worry about that again.

Set It Up (in less than 15 seconds): Open your Alexa app > tap “More” > “Settings” > “Voice Responses” > toggle Whisper Mode on.

Pro Tip 

You don’t have to be right next to your Echo for Alexa to understand your whispered commands, but if you’re far away or there’s background noise, she may not understand you. 

While you’re at it, enable brief mode, too

Toggle on Brief Mode while you’re already in Voice Responses settings in the Alexa app.

Then Alexa will stop responding “OK” every time she’s asked to do something. Instead, she’ll give you a brief chime sound to acknowledge she heard you.
