How do I fix this problem?
This is a great question! I can’t say for sure exactly what the problem is, but I have a couple of ideas that are worth checking.
My first thought is that you may be using routines. If so, make sure you don’t have any routines set based on time – for instance, at 2AM, turn the lights on. I know this is unlikely, but it’s possible the time based routine was set for PM and instead was changed to AM.
My second thought is perhaps your routines are set based on location – for instance, when you arrive home with your phone, your lights turn on. It’s possible that in the middle of the night, your phone connects with a different cell phone tower a few miles away, then pings one closer to your home – and as a result, Alexa sees you as arriving at your house. In that case, it may make sense to turn off that routine or only set it to happen within a certain time window (8AM to 10 PM).
If the problem continues, I would suggest reaching out to Amazon support and getting their input on the situation.
Hope that helps you!
