I have two questions about this:
- How do I pronounce “Tubi” in a way Alexa will recognize?
- What are the possible commands that this skill will respond to?
Now, I am much more interested in figuring out how to do this “in general” and not for this specific skill.
First, if you’re not familiar with Tubi, it’s similar to Netflix, except it’s free, because it’s ad supported.
To find out how things are pronounced, I typically would start by looking for videos of the product or service, especially ones made by the creators themselves. On Tubi’s website there weren’t any demonstration videos, so that idea didn’t work. But on YouTube, I found some videos of enthusiasts showing Tubi and how it worked, and they were pronouncing it “Toobee”.
To find out what commands the Skill would respond to, the best way is to start with the Amazon.com page for the Skill, which lists some of the supported phrases.
In this case, there are 3 suggested phrases to try:
- “Alexa, play Igor”
- “Alexa, show me Tom Hanks movies”
- “Alexa, Pause”
Those should get you started, and I would suggest reading the Amazon.com Skill page reviews to see if existing users have dropped any other hints that might be useful.
These suggestions apply to a lot of new technologies that you may utilize in the future!
