Is there a way to start Alexa playing music in one room, and add multi-room audio once playback has started?

I know how to set Alexa up to play the same music in different rooms from the beginning but if I want to hear that same music/station in another room – is there a way to just add that room?

Hi Angela,
Great question! To my knowledge, this isn’t currently supported with Alexa natively.
However, you can do this with Spotify, if that’s the music service you use.

If you have set up the Spotify Alexa Skill, and have the Spotify app on your phone, you can do this.

Steps:

Open Spotify and play something.
Tap at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the device you want to play to.

You can change the output speaker at any time.

Give it a try and see if that will work for you!
