I subscribed to Amazon Music and they want me to go on Family Plan for my husband to use it, too. Seems silly for a small house with two retirees knocking around to have a whole family account for one or two Dots in another room!

The issue is that one of them is in our Master, and when we babysit, the baby’s bed is in there and we can’t play lullabies on his Dot there. His computer room has an Echo Spot, but the toddler naps in there, and again…no lullabies.

Is our only option to deregister his two Echos and put them all in my name so we can play music from my Amazon Music account?

There’s an easy fix for this – all you have to do is set up an Amazon household. It’ll allow you to switch to your account or your husband’s account no matter who the device is registered to.

Once you have your household set up, on your husband’s devices, when he wants to play Amazon Music from your account, he can just say “Alexa, switch accounts” to go to your account and then play the music (to go back to his account, he can just say “Alexa, switch accounts” again).

Note that he won’t be able to play Amazon music via your membership on an Echo that is set to his account, but it shouldn’t matter who the device is registered to.

To set up an Amazon household, just follow these simple steps:

Open the Alexa app
Tap the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines) in the upper left corner
Tap Settings
Tap Alexa account
Tap Amazon Household, and follow the on-screen instructions to easily set it up!
