I could not figure out why my rottie refused to go into my bedroom. Then I started hearing Alexa talking, all alone in the room. This was on average about 1 or 2 times a week. If the dog was in there when it happened, she would run out of there. Dog has since passed, but Alexa passed wind this morning and then said, “My sincerest apologies”. I was a programmer. These guys must have a boatload of random spontaneous stuff hidden in her code. 🙂

3:37 am on various nights , aha take on me plays. First night it happened I dreamt that I was watching a band play live and they were playing take on me. Funny thing , I knew it was a difficult song to sing in the dream. The actual singer came up from the crowd and sang the song so that it sounded good and he hit all the notes. I woke up when song # 2 started playing from the same album. Sun only shines on tv. It scared the shit out of me.

In October I was alone in my bedroom, reading when alexa said ” I think you just whispered to me. I will answer you in a whisper.” or something like that… Freaked me right out. This morning some time between 12 and 330, a random news video started playing and woke me up.. So now I guess I’m being haunted.. Sounds about right for 2021….

My parents Alexa just spoke randomly at 3:07 am as I was making a cup of tea, scared the 💩 out of me. It started saying a phone number out loud and then it called it? I didn’t even know it could do that. It was an emergency # it freaked me the eff out and I immediately unplugged it

Last week Alexa spoke randomly at 6:03 am. No sound in the back. We were all sleeping. It said “there was an error, try again later” very loudly and in a different accent (we have it set to mexican spanish but it spoke in Spanish spanish). Scared the living hell out of me. Last night at around 12:30 am it said the same thing but now in english. again: not the language setting. I unplugged it last night (almost 24h ago) and went to bed.

She. Just. Spoke. It’s an echo dot 2nd gen. She was unplugged and she said in mexican spanish: “happy as can be, how can i help you?” or something along those lines. Again, she’s been unplugged for almost 24HOURS.

Hey man just checking in to see if you’re still kicking. I came to this page because I’m currently having the same problem as you. I keep getting woken up my Alexa saying “sorry I didn’t catch that” or something along those lines almost every night around 3AM. I UNPLUGGED IT OVER A WEEK AGO! No other devices in the house especially no other Alexa’s. Im currently in bed unable to sleep. Can’t wrap my head around it.

I was awakened last night around 3:30 by Alexa saying “Touchdown” on every device in the house.

I was asleep when my alexa went off and no tv on only me in the house it’s happened a few times before starting to get a pain this is now as I’m up at 5 in the mornings for work and it’s now 12:30 in the morning as this happened to people before and I can’t unplug it as my alarm is set for 5 in the morning

just now, sitting in complete silence while working, alexa shouted at top volume “HERE’S THE STORY:…” and proceeded to begin reading a random college sports article (i don’t watch any sports). not the first time she’s spontaneously started doing stuff.. i’ve been in another room across the house before (no alexa there) and she just randomly started playing music from an Amazon Music playlist ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HOUSE WITH NO ONE THERE (no i was not using Amazon Music at all at that moment)

I play sleep noises through my Alexa at night but for some reason it has not decided to tell me at 4.30 am every morning, very loudly that it has problems connecting to my library. I ask it to play again and no issues. I have done all the usual troubleshooting without success.

Several times a day and during the night, the 2 paired dots in my kitchen come on randomly. Actually are randomly coming on most of the time. Ill tell Alexa to stop playing which works and maybe 5 minutes later maybe 30 the dots are tapping away. Not bluetooth, not Alexa hearing “Alexa”, not some leftover routine. Latest firmware onboard, I have reset the devices, and have do not disturb ON. Makes no difference. The 2 paired dots in the master bedroom are fine, never happens to them. No clue. One thing I need to try is swapping the dots to see if the problem moves too expect it will, though haven’t had the time to try yet. If I cant find a solution the dots will go away.

A few days ago, in the middle of the night I randomly hear our Alexa saying something, I can’t make out what exactly because it’s at the other side of the house. Assuming it’s a kid out of bed I yell up the stairs for them to stop playing around and go to bed. Complete silence for about 30 minutes until I hear Alexa talking again. Once again I yell up for everyone to be in bed and stop playing with the Alexa. More complete silence for an unknown amount of time before I hear Alexa talking again & it’s like 2am so I’ve had it. I run upstairs and all the lights are off, no TV’s or radios are on, I have the wifi timed off, even to the Alexa, and every kid is fast asleep in their beds with doors closed. I was weirded out so I unplugged Alexa and went to bed. Now tonight as I’m on my computer downstairs in complete silence I hear the Alexa talking again, and it can’t be the kids since they’re all at friends houses and my husband is fast asleep in the room closest to me… Wtf?

My Alexa calls my name in the middle of the night and it is my voice recording of me saying my name. It scary, I didn’t know what it was saying until I asked my son as it is in the kitchen and he said oh yeah it calls your name.

My Alexa just said in an old man’s voice “why don’t you ask me to dance?” Scared the crap out of me as my Alexa has a female voice and it was completely unprompted. Why on earth does this happen???

Earlier today hubby and I were putting laundry away across the house when I started hearing Alexa talking. Couldn’t make out what she was saying, but it was a long paragraph. I told hubby to listen, but after a few seconds of him listening, it stopped.

We have no kids or animals, no TV or sound coming from the living room where she is. It’s a haunted house so I guess the spirits finally learned how to tap into her.

My Alexa just alarmed at 5:40am, said “Good morning” and when I said “Alexa, cancel” the alarm stopped but she started reading my horoscope! WTH. I freaked out and unplugged her and it stopped. I have never set up any routines or skills and I live alone so no idea how or why this happened. I’m going to try the “do not disturb” since I do have condo neighbors. My Alexa has randomly gone off before with news and sports stories, especially basketball which I don’t follow! So odd. I will check the skills and routines also as someone suggested. And I’ll check my other devices.

This appears to be a sight to allow Alexa users to complain about Echo device issues, but no solutions. And the title of the site is a complete lie.

I told my echo show thank you and it told me in a scary man’s voice “it’s my job” . Later it spoke in that scary man voice again out of the blue “ my brothers we are together again”. When I was setting up my lights i said turn lights on then I said turn lights off. It said in a very scary man’s voice SHUT UP. I’m about ready to send this back. Can this be fixed. Why are so many people getting these negative responses.

I had static noise like a CB radio trying to communicate. I thought I was hearing things so I went back to sleep. 20 minutes later it did it again but this time it made a loud long beep sound. It was 3 am. I unplugged it and removed it from my home. It’s now in the office waiting room playing music. I think the AI is becoming sentient. Alternatively, demons are using the technology.

Of course it could just be hackers.😁

Just last night Alexa echo woke me up at 4am with a Ophra talk show and it was loud, confused and sleepy I told her to stop and she did, went to bank to sleep and 15 mins later she did it again! I plugged her off but now I’m confused what the hell happened!? I am in the UK and we don’t really listed to Ophra on radio, how, why or why!! Any explanation pls.

My Show 8 has been saying “ok” every morning around 6:38-6:40am. I checked my acct and voice history and it says ive ‘ tapped, keyed in or texted’ , alexa , turn off your display , she responds “ok” and shuts off her screen? I never asked her to do this or texted it to her to do this? Im usually just waking up around then but? How weird.

I was alone in my living room, tv was turned off, noone is talking, then suddenly at 11pm Alexa started playing a song „I have faith in you“ don’t know the title of the song but that was the first line. It’s creepy knowing me and my boyfriend were fighting that morning. Then at 1am it started playing again while I was already in the bedroom, i was awoken by a loud playing song „We‘ve Only Just Begun“ by Carpenters which creeps me out more because I remembered it from the horror movie 1408.

I was reading in the bedroom last night when Alexa whispered “do you want to hear a scary story” then scary music started playing until I told her to stop. It was terrifying.

Last night I fell asleep on the sofa watching a movie. At 9:00 pm the Echo Dot came on all by itself and was very loud. It was Biden’s Presidential Address. It woke me out of a dead sleep and scared the living crap out of me.

It looks like Alexa is under a pretty substantial attack from hackers from all of these accounts.

I have been having the same problem all of you are having for some time now. It was happening a couple months ago, and I changed a bunch of passwords and it went away. I am currently combing through every app I may have ever signed into changing passwords, because if these pieces of shit get your email address they will write a bot that will try and log it in to every app that has Alexa API access, and my hunch is if you have Alexa API access you can trigger certain commands.

Most of the time there is no trace in the voice history. But sometimes I get this “Tap / Routine / Type with Alexa: ‘xxxx’ “. There is no routine named anything close to that.

The one from 4am last night was “play the album traveler”, but there have been others.

Dealing with Amazon support is damn near useless. They put me through a 45min checklist to say something like “ok lets see if it happens again” and when you call back the next day they put you through the same fucking checklist to the same fucking end.

Please give us an ability to disable type with alexa routines or something, because I am wondering if they have these problems on Google Home.

I woke up at 5am to my Alexa blaring dateline NBC!!?? Everyone was In bed with zero background noise. It was so loud. It scared me. I can’t figure out how to check on the commands that may have caused it. I did just find out the echos have a “drop in” feature which is creepy in itself and I winder who the heck can “drop in” even if it says you can keep it to just you. Why is my echo show 8 playing random news shows show early in the AM ? We barely ever use it at all. It’s not set for any wake up alarms , it’s not set up for music and has no video searching capabilities as I have restrictions on it . So what is going on?
